SUDS has been responsible for dozens of fantastic productions in the past. Directors, actors, backstage crew and writers alike work their metaphorical socks off for months on end to bring Sussex students the best and most exciting theatre that they can deliver. Putting on a show is a long, tough process – albeit a rewarding one – and it’d be a terrible shame if all those great plays were forgotten as soon as they finish.

So, bearing that in mind, we’re putting together an archive of our shows. We reckon it’d be bloody lovely if there was a little section of the site where you could find out a bit more about SUDS and its history – the shows we put on, how they went down, who was in them, and so on – and so we’ve gone and made one.

Unfortunately, it won’t be possible to have all of the previous SUDS shows here for your perusal – ’cause there’s just too damn many! – but we’re going to do the best we can. If you think you can help us add a show to the archive (with photos, memories of the show, or even just a brief synopsis), then please drop us an email (jd249@sussex.ac.uk), and we’ll sort it out.

Enjoy!

Do you have any records that go back to around 1980? I am eager to get in touch with a friend called Evie who I knew went to Edinburgh with Life is a Dream, a Pedro Calderon de la Barca play directed by Philip Cadiz, a SUDS member. I’d be most grateful if you could help in any way. I am unsure of the year, whether it was 1979, 1980, or 1981. Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi Rose, I’m very sorry but I, as the current publicity officer, don’t have records of SUDS that go back that far. However if you search ‘SUDS’ in fb there is a ‘SUDS past and present’ group which I know has records going back a lot further than our current ones so maybe try that? I’m sorry I can’t be more help!
